I read the line ‘Obama created Trump’ and my face contorted in confusion.
I mean, if by ‘create’ you mean ‘tired old heterosexual white men were bitter about a black guy winning the election and drove themselves hard to the right, enabling Trump’s firebrand rhetoric and allowing it to gain traction’, you might have an argument. If you mean that Trump is somehow a natural continuation of Obama’s ideas, ideals and policies, you couldn’t be further from the truth.
Trump is the endgame of an increasing drive to the right – he is capitalism unchained, bigotry unrestrained. He embodies the system of tired old straight white men supporting tired old straight white men. He’s as far from Obama in every respect as I am from becoming the next man on the Moon.
