Right, time to be angry. In fact, it’s long past the time to be angry. The platitudes have long been empty, and that needs to change.
On Friday 17th of Sabina Nessa was walking through a park to meet some friends at a local pub. Her journey should have taken five minutes. She never arrived.
Someone killed her, and casually left her body to be found, as though the act of taking her life was an easy decision and a relaxed one. It is not a certainty that a man killed her, though police have identified a man of interest they want to speak to.
Sabina did nothing wrong, yet society failed her. Everything is geared up towards having women protect themselves, yet the root causes of violence – especially violence against women – remain unchallenged. It’s long past time to tackle this.
